GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO PAUSES PUBLIC HEALTH FRAMEWORK, ALL IN-PERSON SOCCER ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED
April 1, 2021

Ontario Soccer continues to work in consultation with Canada Soccer and the Government of Ontario, as we prepare for Return to Play 2021. Ontario Soccer will keep the membership updated with the most recent developments surrounding Ontario Soccer’s Return to Play Plan.

The Government of Ontario announced today that it has paused its Government of Ontario current colour Public Health Framework and announced a Province-Wide Shutdown for multiple sectors of the economy.

These new restrictions are greater than the previous Government of Ontario Framework and the Province has made specific changes to the rules for outdoor recreational facilities and team sports.

As a result, Ontario Soccer is required to suspend all in-person soccer activities ‘for at least four weeks’ in order to comply with government orders. Online activities may continue during this period.

This Government directive is effective Saturday, April 3, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

Ontario Soccer has been lobbying the Provincial Government to ensure that soccer has a safe Return to Play this summer and will continue to do so, on our membership’s behalf, during this difficult time.

Ontario Soccer requests that all member organizations contact their Public Health Unit to determine which specific activities might be permitted for your region. Click here to find your Public Health Unit.

Member organizations are encouraged to stay in contact with their local Public Health Unit and Municipality during this period.

Ontario Soccer will continue to update the membership as further changes are made.
